When to call the orthopaedist at home
Through a visit directly at your home, our orthopaedist can diagnose acute, chronic or degenerative pathologies affecting the spine, upper limbs (shoulders, elbow, hand and wrist) and lower limbs (hip, knee, foot and ankle). Through this visit the doctor can study the structure and functionality of the locomotor system.
Among the most frequent pathologies diagnosed by an orthopaedic examination at home there are: osteoarthritis, meniscus problems, injuries to the ligaments of the knee and rotator cuff, carpal tunnel syndrome, hallux valgus, ulnar nerve compression syndrome and plantar fasciitis.
The orthopedist at home is a service offered by The Doctor At Home, home healthcare portal of Medical Service Assistance, a company authorized by the Lazio Region.
How an orthopaedic examination at home works
In the first phase of the orthopaedic examination our specialist analyses the patient’s clinical condition, the symptoms and aliments, the type of work they do and the physical activity they practice.
In the second phase, the orthopaedist analyses the functionality of the patient’s locomotor system, paying attention to various aspects such as: reflexes, posture, the ability to perform certain movements and the presence of swelling.
The visit can end with a precise diagnosis or, if the orthopaedist deems necessary, with the prescription of instrumental diagnostic tests such as radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or laboratory tests such as: blood, urine and joint fluid tests.
