When to call a geriatrician at home
The geriatric examination at home serves to assess and treat diseases that occur in the elderly and their disabling consequences, with the objective of delaying the functional and mental decline, while maintaining self-sufficiency and the best possibly quality of life.
The visit provides the assessment of a specific or general condition, the revision of the therapeutic plan and advice on the management of everyday life.
You can call a geriatrician at home if the elderly person you are taking care of suffers from various pathologies, has a functional decline or a physical fragility, has a disease associated with ageing such as: dementia, incontinence or osteoporosis.
How the geriatric examination at home works
In the first phase of the visit, our geriatrician collects data on medical history, pharmacological history and current therapy.
The visit includes an objective examination of the various organs and apparatuses, focusing the attention on possible disorders manifested in relation to blood pressure, cholesterol values, bone density, weight, sight and hearing. In addition, both psychological and cognitive aspects are taken into account.
The final medical report describes the overall assessment of the patient, his therapeutic, care and rehabilitation needs and the quality of life of the geriatric patient compared to the pathology of which they are a carrier.
Medical tests related to geriatric examination at home
During the geriatric examination the doctor may need to prescribe in-depth examination that can still be performed at home. The Doctor At Home is able to support the geriatrician with blood collection, ultrasound, X-rays, ECG at home and all the tests useful for diagnosing new pathologies or checking the course of previous diseases.

The Doctor At Home, besides the geriatric visit at home, assists his patient at 360° with a series of services related to the diagnosis and treatment of any pathology related to ageing.
